This time we’re bringing in deep house don Darand Land celebrating the release of his latest album on Scissor & Thread.
DaRand’s music is full of deep feels and full spectrum sound in a minimilistic production style. It hits you at your core.
The night will be one focused on the deep, dubby, house sounds letting the tracks breath and it will sound immense on the system at Sounds Good. Get lost in sound on a cold winter night..
Darand Land
Deep4life brought a breath of fresh air to house music in the late 90´s. A handful of really good synthetic and timeless house music releases made it a cult label. One of the leading figures, DaRand Land, continues to engineer emotive tunes for various labels that speak to “the struggles of the inner-city life through music.”
Basic Soul Unit
Hong Kong born and raised in Canada, Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit is a respected veteran of the electronic music scene in Toronto. He discovered dance music through the local college radio stations in the late 80’s and early 90s which were playing Hip Hop, RnB, Reggae, Soca and the new sound of House Music (none of these sounds were heard on commercial radio at the time). After falling in love with these sounds and with House music in particular, he started buying records and going to the burgeoning after hours party scene in the city. His musical sphere expanded into the original music sampled in those underground house and techno grooves as he started collecting disco, soul, jazz and more. In the late 90’s Stuart started working behind the counter at Cosmos Records where he was able to delve into the wide spectrum of music there. Stuart then brought his versatile sound to local clubs in the Toronto playing across a broad spectrum of nights from soul and funk parties to house and techno events.
Though he’s more known for his house and techno productions under the moniker Basic Soul Unit, Stuart has always kept an open ear across a broad spectrum of music. His productions has taken him to perform and DJ at some of the world’s most renowned clubs and festivals for underground dance music including Berghain in Berlin, Rex Club Paris, Fabric London, Mutek in Montreal, Dekmantel in Amsterdam and more. His music has been released on labels such as Dolly, Ostgut Ton, Mule Musiq, Versatile, Mathematics, and Dekmantel to name a few. To Stuart, there is a connection and a history behind all the disparate music he plays. He is always looking to the future with a grounded understanding of the past.

Synth driven, burger powered, 99% Halal. With 25+ years of DJ experience in clubs around the world, HXF (aka Haf S) is a vibe cultivator supreme. With his roots planted firmly in deep soulful American style dance music and its branch offshoots, HXF’s ear for syncopated rhythms, lush textures and flourishing beats have bloomed an honest sound. Fresh but familiar. He has a knack for weaving in and out of higher energy and deep feels all in the same set. He’s always in the cut, always prepared.
